9 vice-presidents, 11 general secretaries, treasurer and 28 secretaries appointed

KHORDHA, SEPTEMBER 24: Ahead of the forthcoming municipal and panchayat elections, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has reconstituted its organisational structure in Khordha with the formation of a 49-member district committee, with an emphasis on strengthening the party organisation at the grassroots level.
BJD president and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved the new committee for the Khordha organisational district. An order to this effect was issued from the party headquarters, Sankha Bhawan, in Bhubaneswar, on September 24.
The newly constituted committee comprises nine vice-presidents, 11 general secretaries, one treasurer and 28 secretaries. The appointments have come into effect immediately, according to the party order.
The restructuring assumes significance ahead of the forthcoming municipal and panchayat elections, with the party seeking to improve coordination among its leaders and workers across constituencies, blocks, gram panchayats and grassroots-level organisational units.
Nine appointed as vice-presidents
The new committee has nine vice-presidents representing different Assembly constituencies of the Khordha organisational district.
From Khordha Assembly constituency, Sanjay Kumar Singh and Mohammad Arif have been appointed vice-presidents. Prafulla Pradhan and Satyanarayan Pradhan have been appointed from Begunia, while Gopinath Maharana has been appointed from Chilika.
From Jatani, Santosh Paikaray and Bijay Kumar Chhotray have been appointed vice-presidents. Binesh Kumar Nayak and Soumyaranjan Mohanty have been appointed from Jayadev.
The inclusion of leaders from different constituencies is expected to facilitate coordination of organisational activities and communication with party workers at various levels, according to party sources.
11 appointed general secretaries
The party has appointed 11 general secretaries to the new district committee.
Ajit Kumar Satapathy, Pradipta Kumar Mahapatra and Rajendra Kumar Samantaray have been appointed from Khordha. From Begunia, Bansidhar Sahu has been appointed general secretary.
Manoj Kumar Pradhan and Ashwini Kumar Sen have been appointed from Chilika. Ananta Behera, Kailash Mahapatra and Padmacharan Pradhan have been appointed from Jatani.
Dillip Kumar Baliarsingh and Rabindra Patra have been appointed from Jayadev.
The general secretaries are expected to coordinate various organisational programmes, meetings, workers’ interactions and constituency-level activities of the party.
Prithviraj appointed treasurer
Prithviraj Srichandan of Khordha has been appointed treasurer of the district committee. Raghunath Jena and Durgashankar Nath Sharma have also been appointed as secretaries.
Leaders from Begunia, Jayadev and Chilika appointed secretaries
The secretary-level appointments include several leaders from different Assembly constituencies.
From Begunia, Jageswar Majhi, Dillip Mahabhoi, Srikanta Tripathy, Prashant Hota and Shantilata Ranasingh have been appointed secretaries.
From Jayadev, Baman Charan Bhoi, Suryanarayan Das, Bijay Kumar Nath, Artatrana Patra and Mohammad Zakir Hussain have been appointed.
From Chilika, Kanak Baral, Ramachandra Pradhan, Prabasa Kumar Sundaray, Santosh Kumar Jali, Prakash Kumar Pradhan, Chinmaya Kumar Pattnaik and Jadu Pradhan have been appointed as secretaries.
Nine secretaries from Jatani
Jatani has the highest representation among the secretary-level appointments, with nine leaders being inducted into the district committee.
They are Prasanna Chhotray, Amiya Prasad Dalei, Saroj Kumar Nayak, Siba Prasad Mahapatra, Laxminarayan Swain, Dubadatta Gopalakrishna, Sukanta Chhotray, Soumyaranjan Pradhan and Pratej Kumar Patsani.
Focus on grassroots organisation
The reconstitution of the district committee comes against the backdrop of the party’s efforts to strengthen its organisational network ahead of the forthcoming local body elections.
The newly appointed office-bearers will be responsible for coordinating party programmes across different constituencies, maintaining regular communication with workers, organising meetings and taking organisational activities to the grassroots.
Particular emphasis is expected to be placed on strengthening the party network at the panchayat, ward and booth levels, besides maintaining regular contact with workers and coordinating local-level programmes.
All members of the newly constituted committee will assume their responsibilities with immediate effect.
BJD Khordha district president Rajendra Kumar Sahu congratulated the newly appointed office-bearers and urged them to work collectively to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots and further the interests of the party.
