KHORDHA, OCTOBER 25: In a move to strengthen disaster preparedness amid the possibility of a cyclonic system developing over the Bay of Bengal, the Khordha district administration has cancelled the leave of government employees and directed all district-level officials to remain at their respective headquarters until further orders.

An order issued by the Office of the Collector and District Magistrate, Khordha, on October 25, instructs all district-level officials not to leave their headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority.
The administration has also cancelled leave sanctioned to government employees for the period from October 26 to 31. Those currently on leave or headquarters leave have been directed to resume duty immediately to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of essential government services.
The decision is aimed at ensuring the availability of officials for emergency response, interdepartmental coordination and the implementation of precautionary measures should the weather situation deteriorate.
With the possibility of a cyclonic system developing over the Bay of Bengal, the administration has emphasised the need for heightened vigilance and administrative readiness. Officials are expected to remain accessible at their respective headquarters to facilitate swift action in the event of an emergency.
The order, bearing No. 20646/Emer., dated October 25, 2026, was issued by the Collector and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Khordha.
Copies of the directive have been forwarded to the Additional District Magistrates, the Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad, Sub-Collectors, district-level officers, Block Development Officers, Tahasildars and Executive Officers of all Urban Local Bodies for information and necessary action.
The administration’s move comes as part of its precautionary measures to ensure that government machinery remains fully operational and capable of responding promptly to any eventuality arising from the evolving weather conditions.
