District Primary Teachers’ Association urges DEO to expedite process; assurance given to complete promotions within 15 days.
KHORDHA, SEPTEMBER 3: Dissatisfaction is brewing among primary teachers in Khordha district over the delay in the promotion process. The District Primary Teachers’ Association has urged District Education Officer (DEO) Sonamika Ray to expedite the process and complete it at the earliest.
A delegation of the association, led by its president Yudhishthir Sahu and secretary Jeet Ranjan Mahapatra, met the DEO at the District Education Office on Thursday and discussed the issue of promotion of primary teachers.
According to the association, during the discussion, the DEO assured the delegation that the promotion process would be completed within the next 15 days without any further delay.
The association said the State Government had initiated steps to expedite the promotion of primary teachers after a gap of nearly four years. In this connection, necessary instructions were issued to the Director of Elementary Education through Government Letter No. 212270 dated May 13, 2026.
Subsequently, the Director of Elementary Education, through Letter No. 9663 dated May 18, 2026, instructed all District Education Officers to expedite the promotion process.
Following the directive, the Khordha District Education Officer’s office, through Letter No. 8068 dated June 22, 2026, had given all Block Education Officers in the district one month to submit the final lists of eligible teachers.
The association claimed that the lists had already been prepared after verification and completion of the required formalities at the block level and submitted to the District Education Office.While the promotion process has progressed in some districts following the directive of the Director of Elementary Education, the delay in Khordha has caused disappointment among teachers awaiting promotion for a long period, the association said.
The association urged the authorities to complete the process at the earliest, keeping in view the interests of teachers who have been waiting for their promotions for several years. Among those present during the meeting were state vice-president Sukanti Sabut, adviser Sangeeta Das, state zonal secretary Basanta Praharaj, Khordha Block secretary Amiya Kumar Parida, Jatni secretary Akash Kumar Mahanty, vice-president Rashmi Das, Sameer Sethi, Narayan Paikaray, Rabindra Pradhan, Debashish Sethi, Rabindranath Das, Batakrishna Nayak, Sanjay Kumar Behera, Tulasi Sethi, Sarojini Dei, Sabita Behera, Laxmikanta Behera, Ramakanta Behera, Sushant Kumar Das, Pratap Chandra Nayak, Diptimayee Nayak, Kishore Chandra Kandi, Fayauddin Khan, Jyotimayee Nayak, Rabinarayan Panda, Satyanarayan Mallic, Prabhat Senapati, Pratap Swain, Madhab Chandra Rana, Pratima Behera and Prabhasini Behera.
