All Anganwadi Centres in Khordha District to Remain Closed for Three Days

AWCs to remain shut from September 22 to 24 as precautionary measure amid very heavy rainfall forecast

KHORDHA, SEPTEMBER 22: All Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) across Khordha district will remain temporarily closed for three days from September 22 to September 24 in view of the prevailing low-pressure system and depression over the region and the likelihood of very heavy rainfall.

According to an official communication issued by the Office of the Collector and District Magistrate, Khordha, the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and security of children and beneficiaries associated with the Anganwadi Centres.

The District Social Welfare Section, in a letter issued on September 21, directed all Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs) of Khordha district to ensure strict compliance with the closure order. The communication stated that very heavy rainfall is likely to occur due to the prevailing weather system, prompting the district administration to temporarily suspend functioning of all AWCs.

The order covers all Anganwadi Centres functioning across the district and will remain effective from September 22 to September 24, 2026.

The CDPOs have been instructed to immediately communicate the decision to all Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Supervisors working under their respective jurisdictions and ensure that the directions are implemented without deviation.

The temporary closure has been ordered particularly keeping in view the vulnerability of children and other beneficiaries during adverse weather conditions. With heavy rainfall potentially affecting road communication and creating waterlogging and other weather-related hazards in different parts of the district, the administration has placed safety considerations at the forefront.

The order was issued by the District Social Welfare Officer, Khordha, on behalf of the Collector and District Magistrate. Copies of the communication have also been forwarded to the Sub-Collectors of Khordha and Bhubaneswar for information and necessary action, while the Personal Assistant to the Collector has been apprised of the decision.

The district administration has urged all concerned officials and field-level functionaries to strictly follow the closure instructions during the three-day period.
