KHORDHA, SEPTEMBER 17: The month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan-2026’ was inaugurated in Khordha on Thursday with a symbolic ‘Lamp of Blessings’ (Ashirbadara Deepa) ceremony at the Radha Krishna Temple premises in Gada Khordha, drawing the participation of more than 1,000 women.
The campaign has been launched with the objective of promoting the values of service, social responsibility, dedication and positive thinking among people. The inaugural programme was jointly organised by Shaktidhara, Khordha District Mission Shakti Mahasangha and Ram Rahim Mission Shakti Mahasangha.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of Padmini Das, president of the District Mission Shakti Mahasangha. Pratap Chandra Beura, Additional District Magistrate (General), Khordha, attended as the chief guest and ceremonially lit the ‘Lamp of Blessings’.
Addressing the gathering, Beura extended his wishes for the welfare and prosperity of the people of Khordha district and the country. Drawing an analogy between the light of a lamp and the human mind, he said the initiative should inspire people to overcome feelings of jealousy, pride, ego and negativity.
He urged people to nurture positive values and strive to become better human beings, saying that such efforts would contribute to the development of the district and the State and enhance their reputation.
Khordha Excise Superintendent Sumati Tripathy, who attended as the guest of honour, said the light of the lamp should symbolically dispel darkness from people’s lives and guide them towards a better future.
Other guests, including District Social Welfare Officer Kusum Kumari Praharaj, Khordha BDO Siddharth Pattnaik, Khordha Municipality Executive Officer Kaveri Muduli and Mission Shakti DPC Premashree Nayak, addressed the gathering. They explained the objectives and significance of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan and the ‘Lamp of Blessings’ initiative.
The temple premises turned into a vibrant spectacle as more than a thousand women participated in the ceremonial lighting of lamps. The collective illumination created an atmosphere of devotion and positivity, with the participants expressing their resolve to promote service, goodwill and social harmony.
The chief guest and other dignitaries were felicitated with traditional uttariyas and bouquets during the programme.
At the end of the ceremony, Anjuman Ara, general secretary of the District Mission Shakti Mahasangha, proposed the vote of thanks. Mr.Beura also offered prayers at the Radha Krishna Temple and later visited the nearby Jagannath Temple, where he had darshan of the deities.
District Information and Public Relations Officer Laxman Kumar Behera, programme coordinator Soudamini Dash, officials and employees of various concerned departments, and members of Mission Shakti were present at the programme.
