District Level Preparatory Meeting For Prevention of Diarrhea, Dengue & Malaria.

Khordha:- A preparatory meeting was held by the Health Dept.at the  Zilla Parishad Conference Hall, Khordha for the prevention & control of diarrhea, dengue & malaria in the district.

The meeting was chaired by Zilla Parishad President Rupashree Rani Gumansingh.The meeting was attended by Zilla Parishad Vice-President Gopinath Maharana, Zilla Parishad  Chief Development & Executive Officer, Jyoti Shankar Sahu, Zone No. 27 Zilla Parishad Member Pradeep Kishore Chhotray,  Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer Dr.Sanjaya Chandra Ray.A detailed discussion was held on the control, prevention of these vector and water-borne diseases. Dengue disease is spread by the bite of Aedes mosquitoes, while diarrhea is spread by drinking contaminated water and malaria is spread by the bite of Aedes mosquitoes. It is spread by biting.This Aedes mosquito bites mostly during the day, & the disease is transmitted from an infected person to a healthy person by biting them.This mosquito lives in various types of waste, such as plastic containers or any paper cups, coconut or wooden blocks, tires, etc. in dirty water.Within 7 to 10 days, the Aedese larvae turn into full-fledged mosquitoes & are able to bite the patient.Similarly, Anopheles mosquitoes breed in stagnant water around the house & take shelter in forest bushes. Malaria & diarrhea are spread by biting infected Anopheles mosquitoes due to lack of clean drinking water, unclean environment, unclean water & not using slippers on the feet. Currently, the prevalence of all these vector-borne diseases is high due to the rainy season. Therefore, the health department has issued this  In a power point presentation on the steps taken to control vector-borne diseases & the blood sample testing of patients, treatment services, etc.,District Vector-borne Disease Advisor Asit Kumar Dash presented all the information.As of 14.07.2025, blood samples of 13,718 patients were tested in the district, out of which 170 dengue patients were identified from Khurda Rural and BMC, while 45 people were treated in hospitals and 42 patients have been discharged.Similarly, between January & May 2025, there were 1,22,798 fever patients, while 49 malaria positive patients and a total of 92 Pulmonary Tuberculosis (PF) cases were treated. The malaria TPR rate in the district is 0.07. Keeping this in mind, the
President,Mrs. Gumansingh  along with the Health Department, has directed all departments involved in health services to provide immediate health services.Vice- President,Zilla Parishad Gopinath Maharana said that health is a priceless asset, without good health, society cannot progress.On behalf of the district administration,Zilla Parishad  Chief Development and Executive Officer Jyoti Shankar Sahu directed the village welfare committee public representatives & all the working units such as the rural water & sanitation department, the urban municipal council, the local health department team to perform their duties effectively.The Chief District Medical & Public Health Officer Dr.Ray advise all the line departments along with the health department for the control and prevention of all vector-borne diseases & continued to create widespread public awareness.He said that the vector-borne diseases diarrhea, dengue & malaria can be prevented 100 percent & the district can definitely be made free from vector-borne diseases. The meeting was attended by DPM, National Health Mission, Subhakanta Gantayat, DPHO,Dr.Ranjan Kumar Mitra, ADPHO Dr.Jibanta  Acharya, ADPHO,Dr. Nandita Gupta, Rural Water Supply & Sanitation, Er. Rashmita Das, District Information & Public Relations Officer Laxman Kumar Behera,EOs, of all Municipal Councils & NAC of  the district, Doctors of PHCs & CHCs were present.
