BJD strongly condemns police beating of journalist during Rath Yatra
Chief Minister should intervene immediately
Bhubaneswar,:- The state government has invited journalists working during the holy Rath Yatra to Puri and strongly condemns the attack by the police.

In a press release today, the party’s media coordinator and spokesperson Dr. Lenin Mohanty said that the state government’s Information and Public Relations Department had taken the accredited journalists from Jayadeva Bhavan of Bhubaneswar in a special bus. After reaching there, the police did not allow them to collect news even after showing their cordon passes and identity cards. .. In turn, many senior journalists were seriously injured in the police’s brutality and beating. While senior journalist Ramesh Mohanty was seriously injured, Prabhu Kalyan Mohapatra, Pradyuman Kumar Mohanty, Sanat Mishra and Haraprasad Das suffered chest injuries. Female journalist Vijayi ka Tripathi has been admitted to the medical center with serious injuries to her hand. Apart from these, many journalists were also injured in the police beating and could not perform their duties.

Shri Mohanty further said that every year, the Information and Public Relations Department makes special arrangements for the coverage of the holy Rath Yatra. . But this year, due to the incompetence of the state government, journalists were beaten up by the police in the temple. BJD strongly condemns such inhumane behavior of the police on the fourth pillar of democracy. The Chief Minister should intervene in this matter and take immediate action against the officials responsible for the disruption of the holy Rath Yatra.
