District level awareness workshop on witchcraft persecution held.


Khordha- 7/2- Complete eradication of superstitions and social evils like witchcraft, shaking hands with witches to cure it is essential for a civilized society. It is only through the efforts of students studying in schools, women’s organizations, various voluntary organizations and especially volunteers working in the Scheduled Tribe areas that such social evils can be eradicated, Manasi Padhi, the chief guest of the one-day awareness workshop on witchcraft persecution, attended the conference hall of the  collectorate khordha and expressed the above points.

District Social Welfare Officer, Kusum Kumari Praharaj ,presided over the meeting and said that such evil practices were prevalent in ancient times.Gradually, education due to its generalization, such practices are disappearing from the society.

In order to completely eradicate it, all the concerned government officials working in the field, public representatives, school and college students, in the villages and at the grassroots level, should create widespread awareness and make them aware of the harm and fear of such practices. Such stigmatized practices that block social development can be eradicated, she sided. Police officials, Sarpancha, Ward members, ASHA, Anganwadi workers, ANM, college students, self-help group members, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes  women and all program officers participated in the workshop.
