16th Voluntary Blood Donors Awarded on World Blood Donor Day

Khordha–: (Subha Khabar)World Blood Donor Day was celebrated in collaboration with the Health & Family Welfare Dept. & Zilla Swasthya Samiti, in the conference hall of CDM & PHO.Khordha.

The blood donors day was celebrated a global tribute to the millions of voluntary, unpaid blood donors who give others a second chance at life.The program was held under the chairmanship of Khordha Blood Bank  Dr.Jaya Ram Padhi.On this occasions Dr.Saurabha Ray, voluntary blood donors &  members of various  voluntary organization  were prominently present.

In his speech Dr. Padhi said ” blood donation is a great gift. There is no alternative to it.Blood donate by voluntary blood donors saves the precious lives of other patients.Blood is especially needed for pregnant women, thalassemia, sickle cell, hemophilia, cancer, liver disease, accident victims &many other serious diseases affected patients. Many people come forward to donate blood voluntarily.So we need to know the value of blood.

To make the public aware of this, ‘World Blood Donor Day’ is celebrated every year on June-14.The blood donation rate in rural areas is very low.

Therefore, widespread awareness is necessary. He said that the problem of blood shortage can be overcome with everyone’s co-operation & participation.


On this occasion, 16th voluntary blood donors were awarded with certificates & trophies. While, DPHO, Prasanna Mohapatra co-ordinated the event, ADPHO, Rabindra Kumar Parmanik, Senior Technician of Khordha Blood Bank, Arun Kumar Sahu assisted in organizing the program. All the employees of the blood bank and voluntary blood donors were present.
