Khordha -28/8–ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA) Bhubaneswar has established a Women-led Bio-Input Resource Production Unit at Dhanahara village Balipatna, Khordha to promote natural and organic farming through women’s active participation.

The initiative under the project ” Development of Horticulture-based Chemical-free Farming Model for Entrepreneurship and Strengthening Self-reliance among Farm Women”, has mobilized over 50 farm women into a Farmers Interest Group-‘Dhanahara Organics ‘. The group will produce quality bio-inputs such as Jeevamrut, Ghanajeevamrut, mixed residue vermicompost and Handi Khata to ensure timely and affordable access for farmers.

To enhance the skill development of farm women a three day training programme on ” Natural Farming-based Bio-input Resource Production ” was also organized by ICAR. Co-ordinated by Dr.Ankita Sahu, Scientist, ICAR-CIWA, the initiative is expected to boost women’s income, strengthen sustainable Livelihood’s, and promote women-led agri-entreprenesurship in the rural ecosystem.
