Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr.Mukesh Mahaling Reviews Vector-Borne Diseases in Khordha District.

Khordha— Health & Family Welfare, Minister Dr.Mukesh Mahaling came on a one-day visit to Khordha district & reviewed the vector-borne diseases control & health service provision in the district at the conference hall of  District Head Quatre     Hospital, Khordha with the district health department & the district administration.

In this review meeting, MLA, Khordha, Prasanta Kumar Jagdev, in-charge Collector, Khordha, Safalya Mandit Pradhan, Director of  Public Health, Odisha,Dr. Nilakanta Mishra, Zilla Parishad  Chief Development & Executive Officer,Jyoti Shankar Sahu, Sub-Collector,  Khordha  Kishore Kumar Panda,Sub-Collector, BBSR, Manoranjan Sahu, Chief District Medical &  Public Health Officer(CDM & PHO),Khordha,Dr. Sanjaya Chandra Ray were present.The Minister was briefed on the health problems & health services in various areas of khordha district.Minister Dr. Mahaling said that since it is the rainy season, there is a high risk of vector-borne diseases like malaria, dengue & diarrhea spreading. He directed all the officials of the district administration & the district health department to take care that vector-borne diseases like malaria, dengue & diarrhea do not appear in any place & to control it hundred percent & maintain zero mortality rate.As diarrhea & vomiting are prevalent in the Bhusandpur area of khordha district, the Minister emphasized on this & directed the Health Dept.Rural Drinking Water Supply & Sanitation Dept. to provide all medical services & clean drinking water. Similarly, he directed the Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Dept. Superintending Engineer  Rashmita Das to inquire thoroughly about the clean drinking water service in the Bhusandpur area & immediately construct group toilets for control of vector-borne diseases.The Minister directed the District Health Dept., District & Block Administration to give priority to Bhusandpur & Tangi blocks, while directing them to spread bleaching once every two days in the districts. The Minister directed the school students to be made aware of the hand washing program, to make the public aware of vector-borne diseases through microphones in tangi block, to distribute leaflets on what to do & what not to do & the Asha & Anganwadi workers go door to door to spread awareness.On the advice of  MLA, Khordha, Prasanta Kumar Jagdev,Minister, Dr.Mahaling directed them, the Collector, held a review meeting with the MLAs &  to submit proposals to the government as soon as possible to appoint doctors & paramedical staff’s, construct residential houses, make the oxygen plant & ICU ward  operational within a month. Similarly, the sanitation system in the urban & notified area councils of khordha district will be strengthened.He instructed the departmental officers not to stagnate anywhere & advised all the residents of the district to keep the surroundings near the houses clean.If water stagnates, dengue larvae take birth & within seven days, it turns into Aedes or Baghua mosquitoes & if bitten, deadly diseases like dengue spread. Therefore, the minister advised everyone to be aware & work in this direction.Similarly, the district health department was directed to keep a close eye on the hotspot areas like Jayadev Vihar & Patia of BMC, etc.The meeting was attended by DEO, Sonamika Ray,DWO, Dr. Gitansu Mohan Dash, DSWO, Ms.Kusum Kumari Praharaj,DSSO, Dillip Hial, Deputy Collector, (Emergency) Shritpa Mishra, Executive Officer, Khordha,Municipality Rijiwana Kawakab,BDO, Tangi, Rumana Jaffrey, DI& PRO, Laxman Kumar Behera & various district level officials,media representatives were present.
