Observation of 19th National Statistics Day-2025 in Khordha.

Khordha- (Subha Khabar )- The 19th National Stastics Day-2025 was celebrated in the conference hall of collectorate khordha in co-ordination with the District Planning & Monitoring Unit, under the patronage of the Zilla Parishad Chief Development & Executive Officer, Khordha,

Jyoti Shankar Sahu.The 19th National Statistics Day, i.e. the birth anniversary of the eminent statistician, Late- Prof.Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, was celebrated.Every years on 29th June India celebrates National Stastics Day to mark the birth anniversary of Prof. P. Ch. Mahalanobis made groundbreaking contributions such as the development of the Mahalanobis Distance & his instrumental role in Indias Five-Year Plans. This day serves as a tribute to his work in economic planning, data science & institutional building including the founding of the Indian Statistical Institute & the National Sample Survey. In the context of the day, a workshop was organized to strengthen statistical calculations in every office at the district level. Prof.Alok Ranjan Behera, Department of Statistics, Utkal University, was the chief guest & he said that statistics is indispensable for the success of every office & plan & discussed in detail the discovery, need & how statistics are an integral part of every plan & spoke on the life philosophy of eminent statistician P.C. Mahalanobis.Zilla Parishad Chief Development & Executive Officer, Jyoti Shankar Sahu, said in his speech,”Statistics have an impact on the implementation of plans & the development process.No work is possible without statistics.A statistical budget gives 100 percent success to its beneficiaries.Therefore, the Block Statistics Officer working in the Block Offices & the Statistical Officers working in each office, in consultation with the departmental officers in every work, prepare good quality statistics, so that the development of the district can be accelerated.Similarly, motivational videos of various departments & the determination of the price of goods/materials/commodities were explained by Sanghamitra Mohanty through PowerPoint. Deputy Director,Dist. Planning & Monitoring Unit(DPMU) khordha, Shankar Behera delivered the welcome speech & managed all the programs. On this day, the first place was won by the Chilika Block Statistical Officer, the second place was won by the BBSR, Block Statistical Officer & the third place was won by the Begunia Block Statistical Officer were felicitated.
