On June 1, India recorded 363 new cases, with an equal number of recoveries, keeping the active case count relatively stable.

However, the cumulative death toll has reached 32, raising concerns among public health experts.

Two new variants, NB.1.8.1 and LF.7, have been identified and are currently under close observation due to their potentially high transmissibility.

Experts have linked these strains to the recent 1,200% spike in weekly cases, sparking fears of a fresh wave.

Health officials urge citizens to remain cautious, follow COVID-19 precautions, and get booster vaccinations to prevent severe infections.
