KHORDHA, SEPTEMBER 20: The Congress organised a workers’ convention near the Sri Kapileswar Dev Temple under Dia Gram Panchayat in Khordha district on Saturday, with party leaders and workers emphasising the need to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots and maintain closer contact with people.
The convention was preceded by a bike rally in which a large number of party workers and supporters participated carrying Congress flags. The rally began at Rameswar Chhak on National Highway-16 and passed through Nuajagannath Road and Nirakarpur Panchayat before reaching the meeting venue at Dia.
The rally created a lively atmosphere along the route, with party workers participating in an organised manner and raising slogans. The event was projected as an effort to mobilise the party’s grassroots workers and intensify organisational activities in the area.
The workers’ convention was held near the Sri Kapileswar Dev Temple following the rally. Senior party member Laxman Mangaraj presided over the meeting, while Congress Zone-12 president Manas Chandra Pattnaik coordinated the proceedings.
Khordha District Congress Committee president Rajib Pattnaik, former Khordha Assembly candidate Sonali Sahu, district general secretary Saki Sajid, block secretary Manoj Kumar Pattnaik, Tangi NAC president Purnachandra Behera, Nirakarpur Panchayat president Manoj Kumar Pradhan, Dia Panchayat president Balunkeswar Dash and Lendu Panchayat president Rupakar Khuntia were among those present.
Speakers at the meeting discussed measures to strengthen the party organisation from the panchayat level and increase the participation of grassroots workers in organisational programmes. They stressed the importance of regular interaction with residents and taking up local issues through appropriate forums.
The meeting also focused on identifying issues affecting people in different localities and ensuring that such concerns are brought to the notice of the relevant authorities through democratic and organisational channels.
Representatives from several panchayats and organisational units participated in the convention. The gathering also provided an opportunity for party workers to exchange views on strengthening coordination and expanding organisational activities at the local level.
Tangi Block Congress president Shishir Pattnaik proposed the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the party leaders, workers and supporters who participated in the programme.
