Condolence Meeting Held for Former Buxi Jagabandhu High School Student Bimal Sarangi

KHORDHA, SEPTEMBER 19: A pall of gloom descended on the Buxi Jagabandhu High School community and the Khordha region following the death of Bimal Sarangi, a former student of the historic institution and a senior social worker. He was 73.The Alumni Association of Buxi Jagabandhu High School expressed deep grief over the demise of Sarangi, who was a student of the 1970 batch. He had remained closely associated with the institution and had played an active role in preparations for the school’s 125th Foundation Day and annual celebrations from the initial stages.

As an active member of the Alumni Association, Sarangi regularly participated in various programmes and activities of the school. Known for his gentle and amiable nature, simple lifestyle and deep affection for his alma mater, he was held in high regard by former students, teachers and local residents. A condolence meeting was organised on Thursday on the school premises by the Alumni Association to mourn his demise. The meeting was convened by Bikram Das. Members present observed a two-minute silence and offered prayers for the departed soul. They also conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Jawaharlal Subudhi, Debaprasad Majumdar, Ravi Satapathy, Umashankar Prasad, Pramod Ray, Santosh Kumar Das, Laxminarayan Bhanja, Satyabrata Das, Rabindra Kumar Sahu, Manoj Pradhan, Surya Pati, Gopal Das, Sudhanshu Routray and Headmistress Jyotirmayee Panda were among those who attended the meeting.
The speakers recalled Sarangi’s multifaceted personality, social service and contribution to the school. They said his demise was a loss not only to the institution, which had lost a dedicated alumnus, but also to the Khordha community, which had lost a committed social worker.
