Banpur-1 PM SHRI School Tops District Role Play Competition ;School to represent Khordha district at state-level event

KHORDHA, SEPTEMBER 18: Banpur-1 PM SHRI Government High School has emerged champion in the Khordha district-level Role Play Competition 2026-27, showcasing the creative talents of its students while spreading messages on social and health-related issues through dramatic presentation.
Organised under the National Population Education Project (NPEP), the district-level competition witnessed participation from five selected teams representing different schools of Khordha district. With its engaging presentation, effective dialogue delivery, creativity and coordinated performance, the Banpur-1 PM SHRI Government High School team secured the first position.

With the district-level victory, the school will now represent Khordha district at the forthcoming state-level Role Play Competition.
The competition was held at the Government Girls’ High School in Khordha, where the participating teams presented various social and health-related themes through role play. The performances sought to communicate important messages in an interesting and accessible manner while providing students with an opportunity to demonstrate their acting skills and creativity.
The participants were assessed on several parameters, including selection and presentation of the theme, acting, dialogue delivery, creativity, coordination and overall performance.
The competition was formally inaugurated by Tapas Kumar Nayak, Principal of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Khordha. Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the importance of role play as an educational tool, stating that such activities go beyond showcasing students’ acting abilities and contribute to the development of life skills, communication skills, teamwork, problem-solving abilities and self-confidence.
The judging panel comprised Tapas Kumar Nayak, Principal of DIET, Khordha; Ramachandra Maharana, teacher at PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Khordha; and Jitendra Pattnaik, faculty member in theatre at Utkal University of Culture.
The judges evaluated the teams on the accuracy and effectiveness of their presentation, acting skills, dialogue, creativity and overall impact of the performances.
According to the results, Banpur-1 PM SHRI Government High School secured the first position, followed by Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, Pichukuli, in second place and MB Government High School, Chandaka, in third place.
At the concluding ceremony, Prashant Kumar Rath, Headmaster of Government Girls’ High School, Khordha, along with the members of the judging panel, remained present. Trophies and certificates were presented to the winning teams.
The district-level triumph has brought cheer among the students, teachers and parents of Banpur-1 PM SHRI Government High School. The school will now begin preparations for the state-level competition with the objective of putting up another strong performance and bringing recognition to Khordha district.
The competition was conducted successfully under the direct supervision of Khordha District Education Officer Sonamika Ray, Additional District Education Officer Dr Pragya Paramita Jena and District Science Supervisor Saroj Kumar Singh.
