Khordha-3/2-The Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign initiated under the National Leprosy Eradication Program was launched in khordha district.The launch coincides with National Anti Leprosy Day observation.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about leprosy, promote early detection and eliminate stigma associated with the disease.The district level launching program was inaugurated by CDM & PHO, Khordha,Dr.Sanjaya Chandra Ray.He emphasized the importance of spreading awareness, breaking myths and ensuring inclusivity so that no one is left behind.He highlighted that key campaign activities will be conducted through Gram Sabhas in coordination with Panchayat and Rural Development Dept.with a strong focus on eliminating leprosy by 2027.
ADPHO, Khordha,Dr.Indira Rath, stressed that extensive screening especially of individuals with skin related issues is crucial for early detection and complete cute.She urged all health workers to intensify screening efforts.The program concluded with a pledge by all participants, reaffirming the health department commitment to building a leprosy free society through awareness, early diagnosis and timely treatment.
