Khordha–National Commission for Women(NCW) member Dr.Archana Majumdar conducted a “Mahila Jan Sunwai”(women’s public hearing) at the conference hall of new collectorate building, khordha,as part of the commissions nationwide outreach initiative ‘ Mahila Ayog Aapke Dwar’.A three members team from National Commission for Women heard complaints of women registered with the NCW from Khordha,Puri, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Bhubaneswar.NCW member Dr.Archana Majumdar was accompanied by Women’s Commission,it’s staffs Monmohan Sharma,Neha Mahajan Gupta, Odisha Women’s Commission member Mrs.Urmila Mohapatra, Collector Khordha Amrit Ruturaj,SP, Vivekanand Sharma, District Legal Services Authority, Deputy Chief Advocate Prafulla Kumar Sahu.Out of the total 96 complaints and case registered with the NCW in 6districts,Dr.Archana Majumdar resolved 26 case’s of women’s harassment, while she directed the concerned departmental officers to investigate the rest.Dr.Majumdar , diligently heard each case and instructed district police officials to ensure fair and prompt investigations, emphasising that ” delay in providing justice to women will not be tolerated”.She highlighted that the primary objective of the Mahila Jan Sunwai camps across the country is to bring justice delivery closer to women at the grassroots level ensure swift redressal of their grievances and hold authorities accountable for negligence in women related cases. During the hearing , the NCW member issued immediate directives in several cases, ordered the formation of inquiry committee for detailed investigations and requested additional reports from police authorities on certain matters.On the instructions of Collector,Mr.Ruturaj,under the direct supervision of ADM(Revenue) Safalya Mandit Pradhan,ADM(Administration) Pratap Chandra Beura, Deputy Collector, Judicial, Ananya Srusthi Satpathy, Deputy Collector, Revenue, Nibedita Parida, District Social Welfare Officer,Kusum Kumari Praharaj, District Child Protection Officer, Bani Shree Pattnaik assisted in the hearing of the cases.DI & PRO, Khordha Laxman Kumar Behera along with senior police officers of the six district, District Social Welfare Officers, District Child Protection Officer’s, lawyers, complaints and respondents, media representatives were also present.
