The main conspirator and all the accused should be arrested immediately.
Bhubaneswar:- The brutal and deadly attack on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahu by BJP leaders in broad daylight is worse than the British atrocities. The Biju Janata Dal has demanded that the Chief Minister take concrete action against the main conspirators and attackers.
In a press conference held at Shankha Bhawan today, BJD’s Bhubaneswar District President and former Minister Ashok Panda, BMC Mayor Sulochana Das, Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena and Bhubaneswar (North) MLA Sushant Raut directly said that the attackers were workers and members of the ruling BJP Party, and said that such a scandal had taken place at the instigation of BJP leader and candidate from Bhubaneswar (Central) constituency in the last elections, Jagannath Pradhan. This incident is a naked example of the disastrous law and order situation in the state and an indication of the tyrannical attitude of the ruling BJP party.
Shri Panda said that the inhumane attack on a BMC administrative officer by the ruling party in the premises of the Municipal Corporation office in the capital Bhubaneswar yesterday is no less than the scenes of goon king depicted in the movies. Such an incident taking place in the open in a peaceful state like Odisha, It has shaken the hearts of the people of the Odisha and tarnished the image of Odisha in the country. In a memorandum submitted by the State OAS Sangha on this incident, it has alleged that they have been subjected to mental and physical torture at various places in the last one year and that their safety and dignity have been put at risk. The way the administrative structure of the state has been attacked for the last one year is unacceptable.
BMC Mayor Sulochana Das condemned the incident and said that the way a senior officer who was hearing people’s complaints was attacked who was dragged out of his office, is unacceptable in a civilized society. While six to seven people were involved in the incident, the police have arrested only five people. Therefore, all the accused should be arrested immediately and the person who instigated this incident should be arrested and Section 109 of the Indian Penal Code should be imposed against him. Jagannath Pradhan is involved in this incident and Shri Pradhan himself has admitted in a media interview that two of the attackers are his close associates.
MLA Anant Narayan Jena said that such an inhuman incident has never happened in the last thirty years. Such a heartbreaking incident has also been remembered by the British atrocities. When two women corporators tried to negotiate at the scene of the incident, they were also injured by the attackers.
MLA Sushant Kumar Raut strongly condemned the incident and said that the Hon’ble Chief Minister should order the immediate arrest of all BJP leaders and workers involved in this case. Deputy Mayor . Manjulata Kahnar was present at this press conference.
